Review: Reasonable Doubt (Volume #1) by Whitney G.

Reasonable Doubt (Volume #1) by Whitney G.
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Erotica
B&N / Amazon

Synopsis:

My cock has an appetite.

A huge and very particular appetite: Blonde, curvy, and preferably not a fucking liar...(Although, that's a story for another day.)

As a high profile lawyer, I don't have time to waste on relationships, so I fulfill my needs by anonymously chatting and sleeping with women I meet online.

My rules are simple: One dinner. One night. No repeats.

This is only casual sex. Nothing more. Nothing less.

At least it was , until "Alyssa"...

She was supposed to be a 27 year old lawyer, a book hoarder, and completely unattractive. She was supposed to be someone I shared law advice with late at night, someone I could trust with details of my weekly escapades.

But then she came into my firm for an interview--a college-interninterview, and everything fucking changed...

Review:

I can NOT believe I finished this novella in less than 2 hours. I can NOT believe I would love this so much after just the first episode. Whitney G. where have you been my whole reading life? And why aren't you being spammed all over the internet like you deserve to be!

Okay! Enough with my nonsense. The moment Whitney came to me with a summary of the book. I knew, I just knew, I would love every bit of the book. And Reasonable Doubt is undoubtedly my favorite read of the year! I love it so much, I hate myself for finishing it so quickly. Now, I have to wait weeks for the next episode to come out.

In short simple words, everything about the book shouted PERFECTION to female bookworm brain. The writing style is beautiful, the transitions between scenes and characters was flawless. And finally, the characters are a blend of dark and light that makes them all the more intriguing in my eyes. Yea... I'm definitely not going to be able to wait for Episode Two! Whitney what have you done to me????

5 out of 5 dates tree.

Giveaway + Review: Savagery by Emma MacKenzie

(Click image to add to your to be read pile)
Title: Savagery
Author: Emma McKenzie
Genre: Erotic Romance, Erotica
Format: eBook from Author
Buy: Savagery - An Erotic Romance

In 10th century France, 18-year old Cherine Cadet only knows one thing: that the life of a peasant isn’t a life at all. Tired of working in utter poverty for an unfeeling Lord, with only her indifferent family and love-struck best friend as company, Cherine dreams of the day she can run away from the future set-up for her, even if she knows there’s no real escape from her destiny.

Then, in one brutal instance, everything changes. A Viking fleet led by the powerful nobleman and warrior, Rolf the Walker and his right-hand man, Erik the Axe, arrive on the shores of the Lord’s estate. In minutes, the entire land is up in flames, Cherine’s family and fellow serfs are killed, and Cherine comes dangerously close to death herself. She is saved only by the fierce Erik – but a new lease on life comes with a cost.

Cherine becomes a slave to the Vikings, a fate she thinks is no better than the one she had before. But as she finds herself being shared between the two men, the savage and darkly handsome Rolf and the mysterious and sensual Erik, Cherine discovers that she too has a fiery warrior heart and that the flames that consumed her old life might burn them all to the ground.

Savagery is the BEST kind of erotica. Nothing is better than mixing sex, sex and more sex with actual plot and romance. What's even better is the fact that it was very realistic and to top that is the fact that we've got hot vikings! very... hot... vikings...

I enjoyed the characters. Erik and Knut mostly. I rarely feel attached to the female protagonists now-a-days. I think I'm over thinking their characters a bit (ya think?). Erik is brutality gone soft and watching Cherine quicken the process makes me smile and giggle. Who doesn't want to tame a hottie like that? It has always been a dream of mine (that I have accomplished - BOOYA). Knut, though not a major character, I still loved him and his mysteriousness (spin-off please?). NOW Rolf... gee willickers... that man scared me so much - no - he STILL scares me. The way Emma described how large and handsome he is. His look doesn't matter to me, he's height and largeness seriously creeped me out. I'm a small person, so I'm allowed to be afraid of abnormally large people. *cowers in a corner*

The plot on the other hand moves from fast to relatively moderate to fast again. That means : THERE IS NO ROOM FOR BOREDOM! *does a happy dance* If I didn't have exams when I started reading this I would have finished this in one sitting (yes, it was that page-turning). Of course, the wonderful steamy and oh so hot scenes. Loved it! Though... not all of it. Rolf seriously creeps me out. *shivers*

To compensate for Rolf's creepiness, the romance was absolutely beautiful *tears up*. I'm so glad Emma ended this with an Epilogue. I don't know what I would do if I didn't know what happened next when the book ended.

Savagery is awesome, sexy and extremely steamy! A brilliant mix of erotica, romance, depth and hot viking men and a french woman. An awesome start for Emma MacKenzie's erotica writing career ;)

Author Bio:

Though she tries hard to hide it, Emma MacKenzie got her start in writing by penning cheesy romantic comedy screenplays. Despite having seven published novels under her garter belt, this is her first foray into erotic romance. Considering how big of a pervert she is, it probably won’t be her last.

She is a fan of red hair, stuffed animals, nori seaweed, and coffee, as well as things she used to hate as a child, including beer, naps and being spanked. When she’s not trying to tone down her purple prose, you can find her nose-deep in a book.

Review: Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades of Grey #1) by E. L. James

NOT FOR YOUNGER READERS

(Click image to add to your to be read pile)
Title: Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades of Grey #1)
Author: E. L. James
Genre: Erotica, Fiction: Romance
Format: Paperback

When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.

This book is intended for mature audiences.

Irritating but not as bad as I expected

I only read it because half the people were all "OMG, IT SUCKS" and the other half are all "OMG, IT ROCKS". In a situation like this there is only one solution. And that is to make up my own mind about this book. So I got it and read it.

At first I was really annoyed at the fact that the writing and dialogue was so British and the characters were based in Seattle, USA. I get it James wanted to be "mainstream" but seriously! It was so bad and overwhelmingly irritating. If you're going to write about people living in the States and they're 100% American, try and do some research on how they talk and the words they use. I had to fade out their actual location and their nationality so the dialogue wouldn't be so annoying. ARGH!

After I got over the dialogue, I got irritated by Ana's use of words... like Jeez, Oh my, Inner Goddess, Holy Moses... Seriously woman. You're like on the verge to commit yourself as a "Submissive" and you don't have the decency to actually learn how to swear. She even says f*** and sh**. I don't see why she can't do it instead of Oh my, holy moses and all that crap. Tsk.

Yea, sure... the book had a lot of sex, BDSM and bad dialogue. But when you skip all the BDSM, and read further... James actually lessens the bad dialogue and simply focuses on something else. This book is more about a girl trying to breach and set a man free from his demons. Isn't that what most romance books are all about?

The book actually had character development... yes... with a bad annoying character like Ana. But you get used to her. Well, I did. But every time she says Oh my, I get annoyed still and makes me hate her some more. There is a lot of romance, even if the guy is a little cold. Towards the end, Ana actually comes to her senses and Christian is beginning to change and his wall begins to crumble.

I knew what to expect when I began to read it and I expected to hate the book but I still kept an open mind about it and at the moment, I say it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I think it might be because I skipped all the BDSM and stuck to whatever angst and romance James has lurking in this book.

Review: A Bid for Love (Decadent's 1NightStand Series) by KT Grant

Title: A Bid for Love (Decadent's 1NightStand Series)
Author: KT Grant
Publisher: Decadent Publishing
Length: 43 pages
Sub-Genres: Contemporary, May-December, M/M
Blurb:
Anthony Conlin is a forty-one year old workaholic in love with his twenty-nine year old neighbor, Reece Whitmore, who looks like he belongs on the cover of GQ magazine. Anthony longs for Reece to the point of obsession, but doesn’t think he stands a chance because of their difference in age, his graying hair and a less than rock hard physique.

When Anthony’s friend, Jagger Castillo urges Anthony to try the matching services of One Night Stand, Anthony still refuses because of his crush on Reece. But Jagger, along with the help of Madame Evangeline, the owner of the 1NS has something up their sleeves to make certain Anthony and Reece finally get together.

A charity auction sets the stage and rolls into motion a night Anthony and Reece will never forget.

Warning: MxM (Gay)
Don't read any further if you below 18.

A Bid for Love was romantic. Completely. I couldn't stop swooning. There were tons of aww's and come on's thrown in there too. Just a little warning to all the people who don't mind male on male. This book is graphic and not for young readers. Graphic but well written. KT Grant is awesome and her installment into the Night Stand series was excellent. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series written by other authors that will entail different other characters (duh).

Tony is my favorite character, he's an introvert and excessively shy. Well, so he says. I found all his qualities cute. And the fact that he's into his neighbor who is way younger than him makes his cute quality stronger. Old he may be but cute nonetheless.

Reece is another story. He's incredibly hot and a used to be player. Now, he's saving himself for Tony. (I know right). Thing is they're both too scared to say anything to each other. (awh)

A Bid for Love is a short (40+ pages), sweet, romantic, and sexy (incredibly) read. Its good for one sitting and a reaaaal page turner. Love the part at the auction. :D

An Excerpt for your pleasure.

The ride up to the fortieth floor was pure torture. Although they were alone in the elevator, they stood so close together their shoulders brushed. Sweat trickled down Anthony’s back and he shifted his legs to ease his throbbing hard-on. A minute more and he’d have his hands down Reece’s pants and him back against the wall.

The doors opened with a ding and his shoulders relaxed in relief.

“Are you okay?” Reece frowned, staring at him as they walked out of the elevator and down the hall. “Your face is red.”

“Stuffy in there. I don’t like closed-in spaces,” he mumbled and unbuttoned the top button of his shirt.

Reece slid the key card into the lock. “I don’t think you’ll have to worry about confined spaces much longer.”

Anthony followed him into a room double the size of his condo. The floor-to ceiling windows provided a breathtaking view of the glittering Vegas skyline. In the center of the room was a hot tub big enough for six people. A full bar and a table covered with a sumptuous array of candies, cakes, and other dessert items stood off to their left.

“Would you get a load of this.” Reece wandered into the bedroom and inspected one of the plush maroon pillows. He sat on the bed and bounced. “Pretty durable.”

He tried not to stare at the king size bed with a cherry wood headboard, and airy comforter most likely hiding high quality cotton bed sheets that would whisper against a sleeping person’s skin. Cutting off a groan, he walked over to the bar where a pair of iced champagne bottles bracketed a dish of chocolate-covered strawberries, a favorite of his. Reece re-entered the room, kicked off his shoes, and removed his socks.

“What are you doing?”

“I’m going in the hot tub.” Reece began unbuttoning his shirt slowly as his eyes beckoned him to follow his lead.

Anthony focused on one of the strawberries. Clothes dropped to the floor, and then a deep, satisfied groan, and a small splash. He peered over his shoulder to find Reece, eyes closed and head resting against the edge of the tub, a satisfied expression on his handsome face.

I bet that’s how he looks after a night of lovemaking.

Quick Review: Fool Me Once (Hot Bods #1) by Lacey Wolfe

Title: Fool Me Once
Author: Lacey Wolfe
Started: 19/12/11
Finished: 20/12/11
Medium: eBook (For Review from PR)

Goodreads Synopsis:

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice…

Drew is the last person Skylar wanted to see across from her at a local bar. A month ago he'd wined and dined her all weekend, leaving her feeling fully in love, but then she awoke alone in an empty hotel room and she hadn't heard from him since.

The weekend Drew spent with Skylar was phenomenal. There had never been anyone who made him feel as complete as she did. He shouldn't have disappeared, he should have called, but his feelings for her scared him, so he distanced himself. But when he saw her again, he knew he couldn't stay away any longer.

Skylar's determined not to give Drew another chance to hurt her, but he's just as determined to win her back. Although it won't be easy, he's up to the challenge, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish his goal.

Fool Me Once is a sexy tale that will definitely keep you hooked with the first chapter all the way to the end. Not only was it steamy, it was an excessively quick read filled with some angst, little fights, and mostly steamy sex.

This novella is perfect for a one sitting read. The draw between the protagonists can easily be felt with Wolfe's writing and for sure, her novels are awesome just by reading this.

I'm hoping Wolfe will be writing more on the main characters bestfriend. The poor thing is all alone. :(

Fool Me Once is a novella perfect for one sitting. Its got everything a wonderful novella has: Hot characters, steamy sex, great scenario and awesome writing! I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from Wolfe!

Blog Tour: Review + Excerpt Breaking Delia's Rules by W. Lynn Chantale

Synopsis: Five days, three rules, and one sizzling seduction. Delia has just three rules for dating. First, a man should never assume he’s the only one. Second, he must stick to his scheduled day and time. Third—and most important—no sex. Enforcing the rules has never been a problem until she meets the hottie from the pool.

Jace has only five days to make every moment count. The more time he spends with Delia, the more he realizes she may be The One. With the clock ticking, he realizes there is only one course of action to take if he wants Delia's heart. Can he convince Delia that rules are meant to be broken?

This was a 60-page eBook and no matter how short it was, it made me swoon and squeal at how romantic Jace was to Delia. The setting is on a cruise ship and Delia has a bunch of rules when it comes to guys. She doesn’t want anything to go beyond a fling or just a date. But Jace dared her to commit to one guy for the last days of the cruise. She accepts not knowing that the guy she has to commit to is Jace.

Jace is such a romantic. He does it with flowers, picnics, cuddling, and candle-lit dinners. He’s every girls dream. Hot, romantic, sexy, and sweet. They have a great thing going on and I enjoyed how it all began and ended. At some points in the story, I envied Delia. The woman’s lucky to have someone like that. Someone totally committed to her after just meeting her. So sweet!

Breaking Delia’s Rules is a short but entertaining read that is steamy, funny, romantic and oh so sexy. Definitely an unputdownable read. Come on its 60 pages! I love reads like these. Though rushed but still great.

He rested a large hand against her thigh and brushed lazy circles along the sensitive skin near her knee with his thumb. She inhaled sharply at the sparks zigzagging through her veins.

"So how 'bout it?" Jace smiled. "Commit to one man for the rest of the cruise."

She laughed, tugging off her glasses and setting them on top of her book. "Did you have someone in mind?" A sigh escaped her lips when he inched his fingers higher up her thigh.

His hand stilled. "Yeah." Her pulse raced when he slid his gaze down her body a second time, and his continued touch did nothing to alleviate her predicament.

Delia moistened her dry lips. She should leave before she did something stupid, like fling herself into his arms and demand hot, sweaty sex.

"I should go." She stood, grabbing her book and glasses.

Jace stood as well and clasped her hand. Butterflies took flight in her belly. He tugged hard enough to pull her off balance and she stumbled against him.

"Hot date?" he asked.

Delia stared into his eyes, her heart hammering at his closeness. "I..." She couldn't push any more words across her dry tongue.

"You're just going to run?"

The challenge in his voice pricked her feminine pride and she straightened. She had to let him know she was still in control. "You never said who you had in mind," she countered. Instead of stepping away, she moved closer. Every time she exhaled, her breasts brushed against his chest. Tingles trickled down her spine, but still she didn't step away.

He smiled wolfishly. "I can't believe you haven't figured out who I have in mind."

"I want to hear you say it," she said.

"You do like a challenge."

She grinned. "Who said I didn't?"

"Good, 'cause here's one more." He dropped a kiss on her upturned mouth.
