A Fun Interview with Jennifer Snyder, author of Exhale

-->

Jennifer Snyder lives in North Carolina were she spends most of her time writing young adult fiction, reading, and struggling to stay on top of housework. She is an instant coffee lover with an obsession for spiral bound notebooks and smooth writing pens. Jennifer lives with her husband and two children, who endure listening to songs that spur inspiration on repeat and tolerate her love for all paranormal, teenage-targeted TV shows.

UB: 'Exhale' has uber hot twins, which actor would they look like and why, give us a picture to drool over!

JS: Here are a few:
A young Max Thieriot with slightly greener eyes a darker hair.

 Hayden Christensen. Yum!

UB: Scenario : You're 17 again, and you happen to be best friends with hot twins. One twin tells you he likes you and the other takes you out just the two of you and it ended up being almost like a date with a near kiss and everything... What would you do?

JS: Go for whichever one I liked more!

UB: Were the Connor twins inspired by someone in your personal life?

JS: In general I think every character I write about has little pieces of those close to me, and of myself as well, etched into their personalities. But, no, the Connor twins were not inspired by any specific individual in my life.

UB: 'Exhale' has a message, would you care to explain what it is?

JS: Exhale is all about dealing with grief and loss. It’s about healing and figuring out  when it’s finally okay to let go of all that and breathe again after tragedy strikes. Every person deals with those issues differently and Exhale is one girl’s journey to figuring it all out for herself—how to cope and when to move on.

UB: What is your guilty pleasure?
JS: Brownies. Sinful, they are!

Now, time for this and that portion!

Winter or Summer?
Summer!

Pink or Blue?
Pink

Night or Day?
Day

eBook or Printed Books?
I still read both…but I’ll go with eBook.

Sand or Grass?
Ah! I like both!

Long or Short Hair?
On me or a guy? LOL. Totally different answer! Me: long. Guy: short.

Breakfast or Lunch or Dinner?

Breakfast hands down!

Cat or Dog?
Is it bad that I’m going to say cat here and I have a dog? Cat’s are just soooo much less work it seems! But, I do love my dog.

Inhaling in life is easy. It’s the exhaling—the letting go— that’s the hard part.

Author Interview: Jessica Miller (Author, The Wanderers)

Bwahahaha! Loving how lively my blog has been getting. I've been forcing myself to post up a lot more during my lunch break.

Anyways! Today, we have an awesome author here with me. Please, welcome Jessica Miller!

JESSICA MILLER

I live in a fantasy world and have an over active imagination. But the best part about that is I never stop creating new characters and new stories to share. I love writing and expressing myself in a way that everyone else can enjoy as well. I work in the salon most days, but when i'm not doing hair, I'm writing or reading.

Follow Jessica:
Goodreads / Facebook Fan Page

UB asked: When did you start writing up The Wanderers? What sparked the idea and how long did it take you to write it?

I started writing The Wanderers in early 2011. I don't remember how long it took me to write it, but I do know i was finishing up book 3 by late summer. The Idea for The Wanderers came from my crazy imagination. I wanted to do something different. So i started with an outline of the story. I knew where i wanted it to go and I knew what I wanted to happen, it was just a matter of filling in the rest. A lot of times music was my inspiration. I would be listening to a song and a whole scene would play out in my head. Of course it would always be at the most inconvenient times and by the time I would get a chance to write it down I forgot most of it. Honestly most of my ideas just come from trying to do something different. And when I get an idea in my head it just flows.

UB asked: Why name it "The Wanderers"?

The title has to do with the characthers in the book. It's what they are. I don't know how I thought of it. It just knid of came to me one day and I was like hey, I like that.

UB asked: If "The Wanderers" were made into a movie, who would play Ella and other main characters?

This one is hard becasue I never put much thought into who would play the characthers because everytime I think of Ella I think of me. I imagine myself as Ella because I put a big part of me into her character. I always tend to take some small aspect of myself  and put that in each charatcher I develop.

With Ella it's so hard to narrow it down. So with that I think I'll leave it up to the readers on who they would pick. I know everyone always has a different version of who they would think would play the perfect Ella. As for the other characters, I recently discovered an actor by the name of Ryan Rottman (From The Lying Game) who I think would be a good choice for Tristan. For Ella's best friend Josie I would pick Kaley Cuoco (Big Bang Theory), Susan Sarandon as Ella's mother just because I really like her and Justin Timberlake for Jack. I actually have a better idea for a cast of characters for the second book but don't want to give anything away yet.

UB asked: I love the haunting feel to the cover, do you personally think the cover matches the contents of the book?

Yes I do feel the cover fits the book. I didn't just want to put someone's face on the cover and I wanted it to stand out. The backround picture is an actual picture taken by my mom (Kim Geissler). When I saw it I immediately said that would be perfect for the cover. So with a little help from my friend we made some additions to the picture along with some color changes and wah-la. I think the cover represents Ella on her journey to discover who she is.

UB asked: Why is "The Wanderers" any different from other YA Paranormal book?

Even though the book is about the supernatural i still try to talk about real issues. I like when the readers can relate to the characters. I also try to keep you guessing and try my best to make sure my books aren't predictable. Nothing is worse than when you figure out the ending before you're even halfway through the book. I don't like a book where i can predict what happens at the end of every chapter. That's boring so I try my hardest to keep you on your toes.

Describe "The Wanderers" using 3 adjectives.

Awesome, nail-biting, original

-----

Thank you so much Jessica for stopping by Unputdownable Books! :)

Interview with Tawny Stokes, Author of Demons of the Rich and Famous

Hi all! Today, I'll be sharing with you wonderful people a little interview I did with Tawny Stokes. Before I continue onto the interview. Here is a little bio of the author. :)

 Tawny Stokes has always been a writer. From an early age, she’d spin tales of serial killers in love, vampires taking over the world, and sometimes about fluffy bunnies turned bunnicidal maniacs. An honour student in high school, with a penchant for math and English, you’d never know it by the foot high blue Mohawk and Doc Martens, which often got her into trouble. No longer a Mohawk wearer, Tawny still enjoys old school punk rock, trance, zombie movies, teen horror films, and fluffy bunnies. She lives in Canada with her fantastical daughter, two cats, and spends most of her time creating new stories for teens.

Tawny also writes adult paranormal/urban fantasy fiction under the name Vivi Anna, and is an aspiring screenwriter.

~~~~
1. What Inspired you to write Demons of the Rich and Famous?
Most of my stories come from character. Caden Butcher was no exception. I created him first and foremost. I thought what would it be like to be a teen exorcist, and what if most of your work came from Hollywood. I loved the movie Constantine, and I always wanted to write a character like that. I actually created Caden three or four years ago, but took me another year or so to write his story.
2. Whats the concept behind the Book Cover? Does it match the content?
I wanted the cover to be appealing, and have a mysterious look to it. My original cover I think was too ominous. The dude on the cover resembles Caden and the cemetery in the background tells of a particular part in the book.
3. What books are almost like Demons of the Rich and Famous?
One reviewer recommend this book for those who enjoy Cassandra Clare’s books. I’d also compare them to Nick Chronicles by Sherrilyn Kenyon, and The Demon’s Lexicon series by Sarah Rees Brennan.
4. Who's your main lead, who does he/she look like, give us a "dream cast" image of him/her.
My main lead is Caden Butcher. I’d say he is a young Ashton Kutcher. Longish messy hair, some scruff on the chin, but boyish.
5. If you could describe your book in a sentence, what would it be?
A young exorcist and his demon BFF scam the idle rich out of money by performing fake exorcisms until they get caught by a nasty demon who is hell bent on destroying everything good in their lives.
~~~~

 Demons of the Rich and Famous (A Demon Whisperer Novel)
Supernatural possession is the new “disease” and teen exorcist Caden Butcher is the cure…

Having to take care of his father, Caden makes a decent income curing the new “disease”. He’s known as the whiz-kid exorcist to the stars, obtaining most of his work in Hollywood. What others don't know is the exorcisms are all staged with his demon BFF, Dan. Not everyone is happy with Caden’s star status though, including Remy Martin, a high ranking member of the International Order of Exorcists.

So when a real exorcism goes wrong and Caden lets the nasty demon inside a teen girl jump bodies, the crap hits the supernatural fan. Not only does the Order strip him of his license but Caden discovers the demon is one he knows and he’s hell bent on destroying Caden’s life, literally. Now with the help of his demon buddy, and Caden’s girlfriend Aspen Spencer, a necromancer in training, Caden must track down the rogue demon before it’s too late.

Long-time readers of dark historical fantasy (Tim Powers, Guy Gavriel Kay, Katherine Kurtz) will appreciate the weaving together of mythology, occult, and religion, while younger readers and fans of HBO dramas (True Blood, Carnivàle) or urban fantasy (Laurell K. Hamilton, Kim Harrison, Jim Butcher) will be drawn to the twisted imagination, graphic action, and romantic tension.

About The Darkening Dream

Even as the modern world pushes the supernatural aside in favor of science and steel, the old ways remain. God, demon, monster, and sorcerer alike plot to regain what was theirs. 1913, Salem, Massachusetts – Sarah Engelmann’s life is full of friends, books, and avoiding the pressure to choose a husband, until an ominous vision and the haunting call of an otherworldly trumpet shake her. When she stumbles across a gruesome corpse, she fears that her vision was more of a premonition. And when she sees the murdered boy moving through the crowd at an amusement park, Sarah is thrust into a dark battle she does not understand. With the help of Alex, an attractive Greek immigrant who knows a startling amount about the undead, Sarah sets out to uncover the truth. Their quest takes them to the factory mills of Salem, on a midnight boat ride to spy on an eerie coastal lair, and back, unexpectedly, to their own homes. What can Alex’s elderly, vampire-hunting grandfather and Sarah’s own rabbi father tell them? And what do Sarah’s continuing visions reveal? No less than Gabriel’s Trumpet, the tool that will announce the End of Days, is at stake, and the forces that have banded to recover it include a 900 year-old vampire, a trio of disgruntled Egyptian gods, and a demon-loving Puritan minister. At the center of this swirling cast is Sarah, who must fight a millennia-old battle against unspeakable forces, knowing the ultimate prize might be her very soul.

The Reviews Are In

"A vampire novel with actual bite." ~The Kirkus Reviews

"A gorgeously creepy, strangely humorous, and sincerely terrifying tale." ~Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)

"Mr. Gavin has brought something refreshingly new to a genre now suffused with poorly-concealed bodice-rippers which have more in common with Fabio than Bram Stoker: depth. His big baddies are scary, not romantic interests, and the added religious lore is complex and engaging. Don't expect another Twilight -- the story can get downright creepy, so be prepared for a return to the old horror sensibilities of supernatural fiction." ~Amazon Review

"With Mr. Gavin's video-game pedigree, I was expecting something aimed squarely at the 18-25 year old fanboy contingent; what I got in The Darkening Dream was something wholly unexpected: A period novel with a female protagonist, a crash-course on Judaism in the colonial years, and multi-layered series of plot arcs featuring a crazy cast of natural and supernatural characters populating turn of the century America." ~Amazon Review

"…A perfect blend of mystery, magic and myth. A grown-up Grimm's fairy tale... emphasis on grim." ~Amazon Review

Naj Asked:  I'm curious, How did you move from being a creator of famous video games to writing a unique YA Paranormal about vampires/egyptian mythology?
Andy Said: From at least high school on I always intended to write a bunch of novels. Work (i.e. making video games) just got in the way.

And the thing about making games is that you can no longer do it mostly by yourself. These days, most games are big teams of over a hundred people, with budgets over 50 million dollars. All that means that it’s not about your creative expression (most of the time), but about getting it done, well, on time, and on budget. And the roll of team lead is largely about fire fighting and resource (achem people) wrangling.

So, I really wanted to focus directly on the creative aspects. Dozens of story ideas have been bouncing around in my head for years, and I felt it was time to let a couple of them out.

The Egyptians worked their way into the story because I wanted a shadowy meta-villain who’s been lurking around for thousands of years. It seemed natural that he might be either Egyptian or Chalcedonian (Babylonian). Now, this might not seem “obvious” to most people, but those two cultures provide the basis of most Western occult traditions. Later my researches dug up the fascinating figure of the Comte de Saint Germain, a crazy alchemist at Louis XVs court who claimed knowledge of the “elixir of Osiris” and it’s resultant immortality. He’s sort of a wandering jew figure and boasted of being Sir Francis Bacon and other historical occultists. I merely take him at his word. And it’s reasonable – if true – that he’d have “friends.” I have a write up on my magical researches here

Naj Asked: What first sparked your interest in the genre (YA) ?

Andy Said: When I started writing the book I wasn’t thinking YA/adult, I was just thinking about my story. I find this age based slotting to be a recent and artificial construct of the big chain bookstores and marketing departments. Regardless, I like to read books with young protagonists, and you write what you like to read. In some ways, the meta idea of The Darkening Dream is a twisted gritty historic reinvention of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (which is my favorite television show of all time). I wanted to emulate the angst and wonder factor of dealing with newly discovered weirdness as a young person, but also ground the entire story in researched and “real” magic and occult, and “sell” it via a very hardboiled and matter of fact style.

As a history buff, I'm always thinking, "that could have been so much better if they didn't make up the historical backstory" so I started with the villains. What kind of ancient evil creatures might still be around? What do they want? And what legitimate human reason would they have to destroy the world (which is so Buffy)? I don't exactly answer the question in TDD, because the motives of 5,000 year old baddies should be mysterious. But trust me, they have a plan, and the sheer audacity of it will literally shake the foundations of the heavens.

Naj Asked: Why the time (1913) & place (Salem, Massachusetts)? Half the time it's Salem = Witches.

Andy Said: I chose 1913 for a number of reasons. I wanted a time before mobile phones and the internet and a time when people’s knowledge of the world left a little more room for mystery. Additionally, as I always intended this as a series with long lived (achem… immortal) characters, I wanted some runway to cross through history. A also loved the idea of a “vampire in the trenches” so I stuck it right before World War I.

Naj Asked: Finally, Why Vampires?

Andy Said: I’ve been obsessed with vampires for decades. Not because they are romantic, but because they are undead – and I really mean undead – and because older ones are creatures that have stretched across the centuries. But it always bugs me in stories full of supernatural where they touch on the historical roots of superstitions but don’t bother to do the research. I always felt that, as they say, “truth is stranger than fiction” – if, like me, you count myth as truth – and so I wanted to write a fast paced supernatural action story where the spooky stuff is all based on real spooky stuff. And truly, the real deal is much more creepy.

I'd like to thank Andy for answering these questions! It's an honor having you on my book blog! And I do hope to see you more all over the book blogosphere soon (unless you already are and I'm missing a lot). :DD

Mini-Note on the Book: I'm currently reading the Darkening Dream. I would have been finished with it already but Uni got in the way (as usual). So far its great. The dialogue is unique (excessively) and so is the whole plot. It is incredibly dark and slightly-explicit. Lets just say its for the older Young Adults. :D

Author Interview: Lori Pescatore, Author of the Blend Series

Author Bio:  A preschool teacher by day and a wife & mom by night. Although I love all of these titles, I can now add published author to the list of things I can consider myself. I was proud the day I got married, I was proud the day I gave birth to each of my boys, (now grown men) and I was proud when I got my certification to teach. My newest accomplishment in being a published author is my latest proud moment. Writing all my life for fun, family and friends, creating my own story and original characters has been a wonderful journey, one I hope is long lived.

Human Blend is the first of a trilogy of books in the romance/fantasy/science fiction genre. It is what I love to read and what I love to write. Earth Blend is the second in the series and was just released. The final installment, Terminal Blend is due out early summer 2012.

Facebook / Twitter (@Preteach99) / Goodreads / Linked In / Shelfari

1. Do you find it hard to come up with something new to write about?

I did not find it hard to come up with something new, I have so many ideas floating around in my head.The real problem is having the time to get get them written. The clock is not my friend.

2. Why did you start writing?

I have been writing most of my life either for myself or friends. I was writing fan fiction long before the Internet. I think when I began reading books and thinking about how I would have written the scene differently, that gave me the idea to write one that was all my own.

3. 5 Random Facts about yourself.

Number one: I'm the youngest of six children
Number two: I married at the ripe old age of 19
Number three: I drive a Black 2008 Ford Mustang GT
Number four: I've been working at the same school for 15 years.
Number five: I have a calico cat named Tiny. She does not live up to her name. :)

4. Current Read.

Devour by Shelly Crane

5. Do you always connect with the characters you write about?

Absolutely. I think if I don't the readers would be able to tell. They are in my head, everyone of them, good or evil. I may not always agree or like the choices they make but there is a thread that connects me to them.

6. What is your biggest challenge when writing?

Time. My kids are all grown and my husband works long hours so I am not disturbed, but I do work and between that and taking care of the house, I do seem to loose track. When I do take the time, it flows generously.

7. When you're not writing what do you do?

My son and I both like Japanese Anime, so we do like to spend time watching different shows. I also work part time as a preschool teacher. Reading is also another enjoyment. That's how it starts. I love to read.

8. Will you be writing outside of the YA genre in the future?

Not anytime soon. I am currently working on the final book in The Blend Series and have another book already started which will also be a young adult genre. I love writing young adults because they are fearless and anything can happen. Makes for interesting stories.
Anything else to Add? How bout market your book and tell the audience why they should pick up Human Blend & Earth Blend.

The Blend Series is different from other fantasy young adult novels. In Human Blend I introduce a new type of fantasy creature that has never been written about before. Come read and see for yourself. In Earth Blend I give some more background information on the creation of these creatures and what happens next is pretty exciting. Thanks you Naj for allowing me to be featured on your wonderful blog.

Thank YOU Lori, for stopping by and answering my many questions!

Author Interview with Tara Fox Hall

Welcome Tara Fox Hall!

AUTHOR BIO: Tara Fox Hall is an OSHA-certified safety and health inspector at a metal fabrication shop in upstate New York. She received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a double minor in chemistry and biology from Binghamton University. Her writing credits include nonfiction short stories, flash, short and novella-length horror stories, and contemporary and historical paranormal romance. She also coauthored the essay “The Allure of the Serial Killer,” published in Serial Killers - Philosophy for Everyone: Being and Killing (Wiley-Blackwell, 2010). Her first E-Book, Surrender to Me, was published in September 2011. She divides her free time unequally between writing novels and short stories, chainsawing firewood, caring for stray animals, sewing cat and dog beds for donation to animal shelters, and target practice.

What inspired you to write?

My mom had a drug interaction with some medication she was taking in summer 2007. Instead of taking her off it, her doctor of the time instead misdiagnosed her with cancer, and told her she had a year to live, at most. She called me at the fabric store on my cell in tears. I was a wreck inside the rest of the day, though I put on a brave face. On the way home, I remembered that I’d always been telling her I was going to write her a book, but I was busy with other things and never took the time. Now I was out of time, and didn’t know if I even would have the time to finish it before she was gone. That made me more upset. I came home that night after visiting with her and started on Promise Me. She hated it at first, but I kept revising it, and it slowly got better. When I finished it, she wanted to know what happened next, so I began work on a sequel. By the time she was well again five months later (and had a new doctor), I’d finished Promise Me, and three sequels to it. I mused that since they were all finished and she loved them, maybe I should try submitting them. I’d won awards in school for writing, and published short animal rescue stories for years in a friend’s nature magazines, but never reached higher. (Naj's Note: Thats sweet)

Have you ever had writers block while writing? If so how'd you get over it?
How long does it take you to write?

I can write about five thousand words in a day, average, if I have a clear idea and outline of where the story is going. But fitting in special events, such as in a historical novel, or when you are working on a series and have to go back and check dates, names, etc., takes much longer. And that’s if I sit there and write at least eight solid hours in the day. (Naj's Note: Very dedicated! Everyone should be as dedicated as you)

What particular place do you write in? Coffee Shop? Home?
I write mostly in bed, late at night.

You run into a bookstore, where do you go first?

To the Godiva chocolate if its Barnes and Noble.

How big is your To Be Read Pile on your shelf?

Reaching epic proportions, but I hope to wind that down in the next few months.

In all the books you've read. Who is your most favorite character and why?

Bilbo Baggins. The Lord of the Rings is an excellent book, but my favorite book is The Hobbit. Bilbo had no idea what he was doing for most of the book, and his companions were not that appreciative or nice to him. But he tried his best anyway in his quiet way, and never gave up, though he could have many times. He stood up for what was right when it would have been much easier not to. That’s what we have to do: keep going, no matter what, even when it seems like you just can’t just take another breath, much less another step. (Naj's Note: I love Bilbo! He's so sweet and epic, especially in The Hobbit)

State 5 random facts about yourself.
Hmm…I better make these interesting, right?
  • I make wonderful bread and rolls from scratch
  • I can operate a chainsaw with finesse (Naj's Note: Scary and soo awesome)
  • I love the sound of rain
  • I have handled many snakes, both my own and wild, and never yet been bitten
  • I still tear up thinking of my two German shepherds who passed away a few years ago. I am tearing up just writing this.
What are you currently reading?

I am between books – I’m involved in NaNoWriteMo, so have taken a hiatus from reading for November.

Your favorite Genre?

I don’t have one. Lumped in my to-read pile are romances, mysteries, thrillers, horror, non-fiction, westerns, and fantasy.

How many books in a month do you tend to read?

If I’m really into a series – such as The Vampire D series by Hideyuki Kikuchi – I can devour a book in a few days. A longer epic—like Robert Jordan’s Eye of the World series—takes me much longer, not because its less exciting, but because there are so many characters to keep track of.

Here’s your chance to market your book. Describe your book and why readers should pick it up?

I can get a type of it, where I’m not sure where the novel should head next, and none of my ideas seem to feel right. That happened once. I went out into public, and looked for inspiration, then also watched a ton of shows at random, things I hadn’t seen. I just had to hit on the right inspiration-a movie, as chance had it-and I was back in business.

Honestly and straight to the point? Because at 3$, Surrender To Me is an easy way to see if you like my style of romance, and want to read more of my work. I have horror stories online at places like Flashes in the Dark that you can read for free, but they were tailored to horrify or terrify the reader, not tantalize and seduce. Devlin—like all my vampires—was created to be not just a passionate, romantic vampire, but also ruthless and calculating in pursuit of his goals. He would take your heart, your body, your blood, and your soul, and you would thank him with your last sated breath.

Here is a brief description of Surrender To Me:

At the turn of the 19th century, former aristocrat turned lowly vampire Devlin Dalcon gets by on his supernatural charms—surviving by singing for his dinner, swindling others for money and goods, and occasionally hiding from daylight in the sleeping quarters of the women he seduces. When Devlin encounters bride-to-be Annabelle—another potential victim of his charms—he finds the tables have turned as he falls in love with her. Although initially reluctant, Anna eventually reciprocates. After the lovers are discovered, Devlin is sentenced to death. Tested by a blizzard, robbed by gypsies, and forced to kill to survive, Annabelle and Devlin triumphantly escape to begin their new life together.

Thanks Tara for being part of my blog today! I hope you had fun!

Giveaway + Interview with Kira Saito (Author of Bound)

Before I start with anything. I'd like to thank Kira for taking the time to answer my questions and offer an eBook copy of Bound for the giveaway. I'm sooo excited to present to you this wonderful debut. Which I haven't read yet but I can't wait too. Voodoo is awesome! :D
Everyone, please, welcome Kira Saito to my blog!

Do you find it hard to come up with something new to write about?
Sometimes, but I have an overactive imagination and a caffeine addiction, so the ideas flow pretty easily when they start. (Naj's Note: Coffee + Imagination = Awesomeness)

Why did you start writing?
As a kid my parents never bought me Barbie dolls, they bought me alphabet and number blocks. I guess they wanted me to be a genius, but their scheme didn’t work. Anyways, ever since then I’ve been in love with words and books. Not numbers though. I hate numbers. (Naj's Note: My parents got me Barbie Dolls. But I chose blocks and legos! And the result was the same as you. I love words... I hate numbers. Hahaha)

5 Random Facts about yourself.
1. I still wish upon a star and believe that dreams can come true.
2. I wish life were a Broadway musical and I could sing like Rufus Wainwright.
3. I fear that one day my Maltese puppy will learn to speak and expose all my secrets. (Naj's Note: Haha. I'm sure your puppy is more loyal to you than you think)4. I need chocolate with my morning coffee.
5. When I’m bored, I like to cut my hair.

Current Read.
I’m reading this intriguing, true account book called the Pet Psychic Diaries by Jeanne Miller. It’s an e-book; the author can actually hear what animals think. I’m hoping I’ll pick up some tips on what my puppy thinks about me.

Do you always connect with the characters you write about?
I love Saturday Night Live and their skits. So when I write, I pretend I’m on SNL acting as whatever character I’m creating. I get into their voices and everything. Sometimes it’s hard, but I do my best to connect with each and every character, they’re all my babies.

What is your biggest challenge when writing?
Fear that people will throw their e-readers/books against the wall if they read something written by me. So yeah, fear gives me panic attacks and stops me from writing as fast as I want to. (Naj's Note: I have the same fear with my art :( )

When you're not writing what do you do?
Obsessing, casting curses and spells, shopping, reading, observing, spending time with those I love.

Will you be writing outside of the YA genre in the future?
Of course, I don’t want to limit myself to any one genre.

Anything else to Add? How about market your book and tell the audience why they should pick up Bound.
That’s all folks. I don’t want to bore anyone! But, I will take this opportunity to tell you why you MUST read Bound.

Here it goes: Do you need a little break from vampires, witches, demons, shifters, fairies, trolls, doppelgangers, zombies and werewolves? Yes? Yay! Blog Tour: Interview + Giveaway Deadman's Blood by T. Lynne Tolles

Everyone! Please Welcome, T. Lynne Tolles!

BRIEF BIO:

All my life I’ve been fascinated with vampires, werewolves, witches and monsters. Maybe it was all those late night ‘Creature Features’, or maybe I’m just a bit odd. Either way, I just can’t put a good vampire or witch book down - magic, goth, wizards, and fairies - they’re all good.

I never intended on being an author. It had never my life’s dream to write or be published, but after reading a stack of books in June and July of 2009, I got an idea. ‘Hmmm. I wonder if I could write a book about vampires? There’d have to be vampires, werewolves, and maybe some witches just to make it interesting.’

And just to talk myself into it, I thought it might be a good way for my teenage daughter to see that if you set your mind to something, even a goofy old mom could accomplish something. Three weeks later ‘Blood of a Werewolf’ was complete.

That’s when I got the bug. I couldn’t stop. Can you say ‘addiction?’ Immediately I jumped into ‘Blood Moon’ finishing it in late August 2009. ‘Blood Lust’ was finished in early May 2010. The fourth book ‘Bloodstone Heart’ was completed in August 2010 and the fifth and final book of the series was completed in June 2011.

1. What inspired you to write?
I was hoping to inspire my teenage daughter to try her hand at a graphic novel by seeing that if I could write a book, she most certainly could.  (Naj's Note: Thats so sweet!)

2. Have you ever had writers block while writing? If so how'd you get over it?

I have and very badly with Deadman’s Blood. I had received a number of bad reviews on another book and was considering giving up writing all together. What turned that around were the fan letters wanting to know when the next book was coming out. They were so excited and determined to find out what happened to the characters that it inspired me to push through the rough spots.  (Naj's Note: I'm glad you came back! Never give up. )

3. How long does it take you to write?

It depends, but usually about three to six months, but this depends on how much my life gets in the way – it has a nasty way of sneaking up on you, especially around the holidays.

4. What particular place do you write in? Coffee Shop? Home?

I write at home and mostly on my bed…I know, weird, huh?!

5. You run into a bookstore, where do you go first?

The fiction section, (usually the young adult fiction)…that is unless I’m doing research and I need a book on witches, demons or some other mythical creature.

6. Paperback or Hardback? Why?

Love a Hardback…Love the sound of the spine cracking open that very first time and the feel of the hard cover when I have a ‘Death Grip’ on it during a tense scene. (Naj's Note: Haha, I'm always giving my book a 'Death Grip')

7. In all the books you've read. Who is your most favorite character and why?

Boy…that’s a hard one. I’m not sure I have an ABSOLUTE favorite, so I’ll just have to mention the ones that first pop into my head. Alexander – the vampire in Ellen Schreiber’s Vampire Kisses series is one. He doesn’t whine about being a monster or have this “poor me” attitude as some vampires do. I like that. And in L.J. Smith’s Vampire Diaries Series (long before the tv series) I fell for Damon Salvatore. He’s a bad boy with a heart even though he likes to pretend he doesn’t care, he really does and I find him intriguing. I had always kind of hoped he and Bonnie would hook up in the books. (Naj's Note: I LOVE DAMON! He sooo *swoon*)

8. State 5 random facts about yourself.

1. When I’m nervous: I bite my nails and joke a lot.

2. I am the NAP Queen. I think I must have been a cat in a past life.

3. I’m a sucker for romantic comedies

4. Love, Love, Love… Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia

5. I’m rather gullible.

9. What are you currently reading?

I have several books on my nightstand, but I haven’t started any of them just yet: Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake and Legend of Witchtrot Road by E. J. Stevens

10. Your favorite Genre?

Young Adult Paranormal Romance

11. How many books in a month do you tend to read?

Sometimes I go through a bunch, then don’t touch a book for six months… Depends on my mood and where I am in the writing process, but I don’t usually read more than one a month and usually less. However my TBR pile is sky high!

12. Heres your chance to market your book. Describe your book and why readers should pick it up?

Deadman’s Blood brings together all the friends and family that have been brought together throughout the Blood Series and involves them all in solving a prophecy about the Larsen family and the Ancient Ones (thought to be the first vampire family on record). It has its own very interesting story, but it also brings to light many underlying mysteries from the past and from previous books. The characters are all very endearing and likeable. The bond they all have for one another is something we can all strive for in our own lives. (Naj's Note: I'll totally pick this one up. :D)
