Re-Cover Me Friday #6

Re-Cover Me Friday, is a new feature only featured on my blog. It is a feature where I basically take a book cover and redesign it completely in my own way. This is something I can do that incorporates both my hobby and my job (I'm a designer :D if you don't know already). I'm very excited about this! I hope everyone will find this enjoyable.

So the only time I've actually done Re-covers is when I'm do the real thing for authors. :D Squeeee! So I haven't been making an Re-Cover's at all! Which I totally dread. -.- But you know work is work.

The original was done by Matthew Perry. I'm only good in manipulating images and drawing images using references so I can't draw as well as Perry. -.- Anyways! What do you guys think? This came from the book by Jackie Gamber. Here's a little more about the book:

Hopefully, I'll keep on going with this one. Haha. Here's Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton redesigned.

I'm thinking of making matching illustrations for the next books as well. O.O But dunno how I'll do that.

While I was reading Prismatica every story seemed to somehow connect to this scene on the cover and because of that I came up with the one on the right. It actually took me awhile to make it because I kept on changing it completely. But the third times the charm! :D I really liked Prismatica. If you guys haven't read it yet. Please do! :D A little note as well. o.o It looks like I forgot to crop the image to the actual book size. Haha.

Now, let me explain to you who is on the cover and all that mumbo jumbo. Okay, so if you didn't recognize her already that's Neferet on the cover. Since the beginning of the book was all about Neferet and basically most of the book was. Well, to be it felt like the 8th book was all about Neferet. That's why I chose her to be on it. The colors are all saturated and meant to look foggy and grayish. The House of Night is somewhat a dark novel so the cover should be too. Now, in the back of the book you can see birds flying away. Lets pretend those are Raven Mockers. haha. I would have explained it better if I didn't use most of my brain all day. -.-

Re-Cover Me Friday #1

Re-Cover Me Friday, is a new feature only featured on my blog. It is a feature where I basically take a book cover and redesign it completely in my own way. This started out as just an idea that I wanted to try out. So I went on Twitter to ask for help and only one replied. -.- But I am very grateful for her input! I wanted to try it out first and photoshopped a couple of images together and came up with something great and that's when I realized this is something I can do that incorporates both my hobby and my job (I'm a designer :D if you don't know already). I'm very excited about this! I hope everyone will find this enjoyable.

The first book I've Re-Covered is Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

I used actors for the models because I didn't want to go looking around model sites for models who look like the characters and who all look 25 and above. This is Odette Yustman and Ben Barnes. I looked through a hell load of VA dream cast posts everywhere on the net and only found Odette pleasing because she looks slightly Turkish like she's said to be in the book and also the fact that out of all the choices only Odette looked young enough to be Rose.

Do I have to explain why I picked Ben Barnes? Seriously? I mean look at him. When I was photoshopping that pretty face I took 20mins of my time just staring at him in zoom in. -.- Sorry, if I sound like a stalker. Haha. That man is just pure hotness especially in that photo. *swoons*
