Bout of Books 6.0 Update (Tues - Friday)

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

Bout of Books Blurb:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 7th and runs through Sunday, January 13th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 6.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. -From the Bout of Books 6.0 team
Anyways, before the read-a-thon begins we need to set a few goals for our selves. My goals are as follows:

THE GOALS

  1. To read all of the books above
  2. To make new friends
  3. To catch the TweetChat
  4. To comment on at least 2 blogs a day

The first day of Bout of Books for me started so well! But then, work got in the way and my reading started to lessen (in the day time). I only had the time to read and not actually post, comment, join anything else. I was so tired I didn't even bother. =.= On the brightside, I finished my first book of the read-a-thon though, I couldn't write the review until Friday. It might be me being lazy or just tired. Whichever comes first. :))

On Wednesday, I actually started up a new book that I got for review awhile back. Oh boy, am I loving it. I only read 18 pages on this day mainly because of work and I had to go out to dinner with Uni friends. We were celebrating our graduation early. :)) Sadly, because of timezones I couldn't join the tweetchat AGAIN. I couldn't comment or do any challenges. Man, I feel like a bad Bout of Book-er!

On Thursday, I've read 69 books, while I maintained the one book read the entire 3 days since I finished it. I haven't joined or commented on any blogs, challenges or tweet chat. I really feel bad for missing out. But hey! When you've got to work, you've got to work. I actually fell asleep in the middle of this book. Haha.

I might as well do Friday as an update on this post. It's already Saturday where I'm from. Oh man, I am so sleepy! Anyways, Friday is a weekend in Bahrain so I thought I would be able to finish this book a little bit faster and get a lot of blogging done. But sadly enough, work got in the way again. I had urgent matters to attend to and the result of that was me not joining the challenges and commenting on any other blogs. On the brightside, I managed to write reviews and finish another book and even wrote up this post! Phew. I'm going to bed! Oh man! Just two more days till the read-a-thon is done. Time really does go fast!

After a long day working on some book covers and other designs for some bookish friends. I managed to sneak in 136 pages of DUFF by Kody Keplinger - which is so much fun and incredibly page turning! But sadly I couldn't finish the book on the same night itself. I had to get up early the next morning. =.= I also commented on 2 blogs, joined the ever so fun challenge and finally! I managed to hang out with other BoutofBook-er's on tweetchat. *does a happy dance* It was fun and I can't wait to do it again in the week.

Bout of Books Challenge : Scientific Discovery

And so the read-a-thon begins! I just got the time to do everything at 9:25PM at night. I blame work for the intrusion. Hopefully by the end of the week I'll be home free and I'll read like a crazy person. Hahaha. Anyways - as part of the read-a-thon there are teeny tiny challenges to keep things extra fun for us boutofbook-ers. Today, the ladies from The Book Barbies have this very interesting challenge. I've copy pasted "The Challenge" and have written my answer!

The Challenge:

"You have made a scientific discovery (who knew you were so good at science?!) on how to bring fictional characters to life. The problem? The method still isn't *perfect,* so you can only bring two people to life, and they must return to the land of fiction in 30 days. Who will you choose as your bestie and your love interest for that one splendid month? (Feel free to add pictures if you like, but they are not required.)" says The Book Barbies

So I made a scientific discovery while I was reading a book by a nuclear reactor in the middle of the pacific ocean (I flew there). Somehow Pride and Prejudice and Once Burned fell into the nuclear reactor and out came:

My Answer:

My Bestie...

....would be Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. So far - she's the ONLY one I'd actually be able to be good friends with. Everyone from other books just seemed intolerable. Lizzy on the other hand - is incredibly headstrong, enjoys reading as much as I do and isn't as beautiful than her eldest sister, who every one else always compares her to (just like me). If she was real and I was in her time, we would be inseparable EVEN when she marries Mr. Darcy. Poor girl. :))

My Love Interest...

...would be Vlad from the Night Prince Series by Jeaniene Frost. Besides the fact that he is incredibly good looking. Vlad has a sense of humor, and most of all... he is just sweet when he's trying not to be all high, might and scary in front of everyone else. He kind of reminds me of my special someone.

Who are your book BFF's & BF's? Comment below with your answer to this challenge.

Yes, I haven't read the series yet. *ashamed* Anyways, Page 99 was snarky, funny and interesting. It didn't make me feel any different though. O.O Not like what I expected. I was hoping I would want to read it more. -.- I'm kind of delaying it. I dunno why.

The Candy Challenge @ BookSmartie

What do I eat or snack on while reading? Well, I usually don't do it since, I'm so engrossed in books I don't really notice that I'm hungry (Weird, I know). But when I'm do, I usually have a box of orange juice and a bag of Crunchy Paprika Chips. They're yum yum yum!

A Book for Every Season @ Reading in Winter
"Name the perfect book for each season of the year! The book can either have the name of the season in the title, or — and this is the preferred way! — the book can take place in that specific season."

SPRING

Want by Stephanie Lawton. This is the perfect spring read since it has the awesomest spring event ever!  (if I'm right) Mardi Gras! :D

SUMMER

Amplified by Tara Kelly. It's hot, the main character just graduated from highschool and has been kicked out of her own house by her dad because she wants to take a break before starting up university. With this book, I couldn't help but feel the heat, even if it sometimes wasn't there. I felt like I was reading a wonderful Summer read.

FALL

The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter. for some odd reason, throughout this book. I felt like that whole story took place in October. I guess it's because of the cover and how dark and gloomy the book felt.
WINTER

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer Smith. This book made me want to curl up under my covers and read the whole day through. It was a cute and sweet winter read.
