Seriously Series Challenge

I wasn't going to join any other reading challenges BUT the one on goodreads mainly because I wasn't up for updating the list regularly and some how I always forget to link back to the host.

This challenge on the other hand was very intriguing when one of the hosts told me about how she was quickly going through her series and I said "I want to do that too". She told me that she did it as a challenge and led me to the original post about the challenge.

"Definition: For this challenge, we define a series as a collection of two or more books that belong together and where the second book is published before the end of 2013. This is a pretty broad definition of series, and it includes traditional series like the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, less traditional series like Stephanie Perkins's YA contemps (Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door), and shorter series, like Kendare Blake's Anna series (Anna Dressed in Blood, Girl of Nightmares).
A series is considered complete in one of two ways: either as finishing all the books that you own in the series or as obtaining and reading all the books that have been published in the series to date. Because we don't want this challenge to become a financial burden, how you choose to define completion is left to your discretion."

Bout of Books Read-a-thon 5.0 Day 1 (My Literary BFF)

      Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

Hi all! I'm a first time bout of books read-a-thon... umm... reader? Well, this is my very first read-a-thon in general so I'm pretty excited to start-up. Since I'll only probably have the time to read tomorrow, I'd like to take this opportunity to sign-up, post up the goals and join some of the challenges of the day.

I've already signed up, so now, here are some of my goals:

      1. Start and finish the books shown above.
        • I know... don't judge me for my choice of "last two" books. Curiosity killed the cat or me. Anyways, there's only 3 for now. I've only once finished 3 books a week. So, lets see if I can finished 3 again. :D
      2. Make new bookish blogger friends!
      3. Finish another book if I finish all 3 before the 19th
        • Hopefully, I can finish 4 instead of 3 this week.
I'm going to start small first. Next time, I'll try for more goals.

      Now, for the challenges.

Auggie @ Auggie Talk has a mini-challenge, where she asks us who are our Literary BFF, What we do together? What do we talk about?

My literary BFF is the one and only Carlos Fuentes from the Perfect Chemistry Series. I've always had a guy as a best friend and I feel way more comfortable with them than with girls. (He reminds me of my current best friend :D)

Lets pretend Carlos and I have been best friends since elementary. Don't worry, our friendship is purely platonic. We are only friends and forever will be. (No, I am not gay)

Carlos loves calling me at the wee hours of the day (while drunk) crying and venting out about how hurt his feelings are because of something Kiara did. At the point, I'm rubbing my eyes and just nodding and humming my agreements to whatever is keeping him up and drunk. Carlos does most of the talking in our friendship, including talking for me. So he makes my life easier.

We hang out at usual places (involving girls he'd like to go out with) and I'd always be his wing-man/woman. We talk about everything and anything. We only confide in each other with our secrets, especially his with his soft and cuddly side that no one knows about but me.

Years later he found Kiara, and I was so happy that he finally has a girl who actually loves him for him, and not because he's part of a gang, or has a bad rep, but because he's a sweet and fluffy teddy bear underneath (Don't tell him, I said that). The big plus here is that Kiara is awesome. I totally love her and they both deserve each other. Sweetest things in the world!

Anyways, now that they're together, Carlos and I don't see and talk much anymore. The only time we talk is when Carlos gets a revelation and calls me up to apologize about something he did years ago. He's sweet, a dick sometimes but sweet. I can't imagine life without a text, call or message from him at least once every six months. Haha. Despite the distance, we know we still got each others back.

      ---- END SCENE ----

He seriously reminds me of my bestie, who I miss terribly. :(

Anyways! I hope you enjoyed reading! Let me know what your goals are for the Bout the Books Read-a-thon!

      Have a nice day!

Holiday Break Reading Challenge, Activity #16: Goals for 2011

Activity #16 tells us to set our blogging and reading goals of 2011. Since I already did something similar like this. I'll just paste it here with more goals.

      Goals 2011.

#1 - Shorten my TBR pile, lately, I've been adding more and more books into my TBR pile without actually buying and reading those books and also the pile that's actually left unread on my shelves. I have a bunch that really need to be read. Hopefully, I can find a challenge that'll help me read and finish all the classics that sit idle on my shelves.

#2 - Write more reviews, hopefully, next year I'll get to write more reviews on books in various different genres. If I manage to actually go through other genres other than historical and YA. My list of Reviews.

#3 - Comment more, I feel like I've been neglecting some of the great blogs by just passing by and not actually commenting. I should comment more!

#4 - Join Challenges, Challenges always help build motivation and finish all the things that need to be finished like the idle books on my shelves! I can't wait to get started on some of the challenges everyone has lined up in the blogmosphere! My Challenges can be found here.

#5 - Read more YA, I made this blog especially for the genre YA. So, I can't wait to start reading more YA based books!

#6 - Reach 100 followers, by the mid 2011 I hope i get 100 followers! Its one of my goals for my blog.

      #7 - Reach 1000 hits!

#8 - Complete 100 books before 2011 ends, I really, really hope I can do this. *uses the secret*

For the 15th Activity we were asked to do the following:

5 - Link your Book Cover using Mr. Linky
      .
In terms of the activity for the Reading Challenge, I’m asking the participants to create the cover and write a short synopsis to go along with it.

      My Book Cover:
      Summary:

"Life at South Borne Highschool was rough and even worse for Scarlet Johnson who is constantly been bullied because of her unique blend of beauty and brains every one is jealous about. Her records have always been clean. Never in detention, Never fighting, and nothing but straight As and praises from her teachers.

When the bullying led to her outburst during one of her favorite classes she was dismissed and was sent to detention for the first time in her life.

Little did she know that detention wasn't the usual bad boy hangout, but a gathering of the bullied to get back at those who provoked their dismissal. While working a long side her fellow victims, Scar is being pursued by the schools loner and bad boy, Leon Wright, who is the leader of this little army of the bullied.

Will she risk her perfect reputation to allow Leo into her life? or will she ignore what she feels and deny his come ons?"

Holiday Break Reading Challenge, Activity #11: Book Title Sentence

For todays activity we were asked to make a sentence with our book titles. I kind of went overboard because it is so much fun! hahaha. :D Moving on to the sentences!

My first one is: A fine passion [of the] fallen misguided angel [to] torment [the] need [to] shiver.

2nd one: Me and Mr. Darcy [had] a fine passion [to find] the secret misguided angel [who has] fallen [to] torment [the] need [to] shiver. (I know this doesn't make much sense)

3rd one: Me and Mr. Darcy [had] a fine passion [to] shadow kiss the secret wicked lovely misguided angel [who has] fallen to distraction.

My last one is: Jane Eyre, mastered by love [went to the] Vampire Academy masquerade [to] nightshade the host.

This is so much fun! :D
